Moving from one iPhone to another

To move your phone service from one iPhone to another, you can use Apple's built-in eSIM transfer process.

Before you begin, make sure:
  • Both iPhones are turned on and nearby.
  • Bluetooth is enabled on both devices.
  • Both iPhones are unlocked and have a passcode set.
  • Both iPhones are signed into iCloud and running iOS 16 or later.

To transfer your eSIM:
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap Cellular.
  3. Tap Add eSIM.
  4. On the Set Up Cellular screen, select Transfer From Nearby iPhone.
  5. Select the eSIM you want to transfer from your old iPhone.

Switching from or to an Android device?

If an Android phone is involved in the transfer, you'll need to get a new eSIM and install it on your new phone instead. Learn more.

Quick Note:

Whether you transfer your eSIM using the Transfer From Nearby iPhone process or install a new eSIM, your phone number, plan, balances, and other line details will remain the same.
