What is WiFi Calling?
WiFi calling allows you to make and receive calls, and text messages, using a WiFi network, with your existing Red Pocket phone number. This is not the same as VoLTE. To learn about VoLTE, click here.
WiFi calling is available on GSMA and GSMT. WiFi calling is not available on the CDMA network. A device compatibility with WiFi calling is required.
WiFi calling is supported with SMS text messaging, but not MMS text messaging.
Does WiFi calling use my Red Pocket voice minutes?
If you are using a GSMA device, WiFi calling will not be deducted from your voice balance.
For the GSMT network, WiFi calling will be deducted from your voice balance.
How do I know if my phone is capable of WiFi calling?
Check phone settings to see if your device is capable of WiFi calling:
On Android phones
- Tap on Settings, then Mobile Networks (or Internet, or Connections. The label of this setting can vary depending on the model of the device you are using).
- Next, look for the WiFi calling setting.
- On some newer phones, WiFi calling functionality can be installed if they are offered by your device manufacturer through a firmware update.
- If you do not see WiFi calling under your device Settings, but you are using a newer device with LTE capability (typically, devices released in 2015 or later), research your phone model number to see if WiFi calling is available and if a firmware update is required.
- Remember, before you see or are able to enable WiFi calling, your account must be updated to include WiFi calling. It is available on the GSMA and GSMT networks at this time.
On iPhone devices
- WiFi calling functionality is available on most newer iPhones (including iPhone 6S or later). To see if your device has WiFi calling, tap on your phone's Settings, then tap on Cellular, and then tap on Cellular Data Options to look for the WiFi calling option.
- Remember, before you see or are able to enable WiFi calling, your account must be updated to include WiFi calling. It is available on the GSMA and GSMT networks at this time.
What is an e911 address?
In the United States, E911 (Enhanced 911) is an address you'll share with emergency services when you call 911, the standard number for requesting help in an emergency. Since wireless users are often mobile, some sort of enhancement is needed for emergency responders to allow the location of the caller to be known.

Is WiFi calling different from VoLTE?
VoLTE stands for Voice over LTE. VoLTE calling allows you to make and receive calls using your 5G or LTE data, with your Red Pocket phone number. If you've got a VoLTE-capable phone, you may be able to use VoLTE with your Red Pocket service. Learn more about VoLTE here.
