# How to use light and dark mode on your phone

##### **What Is Dark Mode?**

Dark mode (also called night mode) switches your screen's background from bright white to darker shades, reducing glare and eye strain, especially in low-light environments. On OLED/AMOLED screens, it can also extend battery life.

 

##### **How to enable Dark Mode**

**Steps on iPhone**

1. Go to **Settings.**
2. **Tap Display & Brightness.**
3. Select **Dark.**
4. Optionally, toggle **Automatic** to switch based on time of day or sunset. 

 

**Steps on Android phones**

1. Go to **Settings.**
2. **Tap Display. **
3. Select **Dark Theme** or **Dark Mode. **
4. Optionally, schedule it or tie it to specific conditions in the same menu.
