How to transfer your number to another carrier

You can take your phone number to another carrier at any time. To do so, you'll need to keep your RedPocket Mobile account active, and activate service with your new carrier by providing them with your RedPocket line's account number and transfer PIN

Quick Note:

Complete your number transfer before canceling your RedPocket Mobile account. Canceling first may cause you to lose your number.

Here's a quick overview of the process:

  1. Keep your RedPocket line active.
  2. Get your account number and transfer PIN online or from customer service.
  3. Turn your line's port-out blocker off.
  4. Give your new carrier the account number and transfer pin.
  5. Activate service with your new carrier.
  6. Wait for the transfer process to complete.
  7. Contact RedPocket customer service to confirm that your line and account are closed.

How to get your account number and transfer PIN

There are two ways to get your account number and transfer PIN: online from your redpocket.com account or by contacting customer service

Quick Note:

For CDMA lines, you must contact us to receive your account number and transfer PIN. You can only generate these details online for GSMA and GSMT lines.

To get your information online:

  7. Verify your identity by receiving a security code.
  8. Select your reason for the number transfer.

  10. If Auto-Pay is on, you’ll need to disable it. You can disable Auto-Pay now and come back to finish generating your number transfer details, or you can disable Auto-Pay after you generate your number transfer details. To get your number transfer details, click “I understand. Proceed".
  11. Write down your account number.
  12. Write down your transfer PIN.

Disable Auto-Pay to avoid charges

To avoid charges, disable auto-pay.

  1. Go back to your line's main overview page
  2. Under My Plan, click the toggle to disable Auto-Pay.

Start your transfer

Once you have your information, start service with your new carrier and provide them with the account number, transfer PIN, name, and address from your RedPocket account.

Transfers typically complete within a few minutes to 24 hours. You can continue to use RedPocket service until the transfer is finished.

Your RedPocket line must remain active during the transfer.

Quick Note:

After the transfer is complete, contact RedPocket customer service to cancel your line or your account. Transferring your number does not automatically cancel your account.

Check the status of your number transfer

Contact your new carrier’s customer service to check your transfer status. If the transfer fails, your number stays with RedPocket. Common causes for failure include:

  • Incorrect account number
  • Incorrect PIN
  • Closed or suspended line
  • Other issues

You can simply correct your information and try again.
