How to Transfer Your Number to Another Carrier
If you’re planning to take your phone number to a new carrier, you’ll need some key information from your current account to make the process smooth. Here’s a simple guide to help you get your port-out details quickly.
You must complete the number transfer process before you cancel your RedPocket Mobile account. If you cancel your RedPocket Mobile account first, your number may be lost!
This is important: If you are using a CDMA line, you must contact us to start the number transfer. Please speak with a customer service representative for assistance.
Contact us
You can always get in touch with us to request and receive your account number and transfer PIN. Visit redpocket.com/contact-us to get in touch with a support representative. We are available Monday through Sunday from 5 AM to 9 PM PST by phone, chat, text, or email. Plus, support is available in 6 different languages.
Your Online Account
You can retrieve your number transfer details online through your account. This option is available for GSMA and GSMT lines. If you have a CDMA line, please contact us to start the number transfer process.
- Log in to your account at redpocket.com/my-lines.
- Click on your line.
- Click on the Manage Number tab.
- Click on Transfer This Number.
- Follow the instructions in the pop-up to generate your account number and transfer PIN.
- Verify your identity by receiving a security code.
- Select your reason for the number transfer.
- Click Proceed with the number transfer.
- If your line is enrolled in Auto-Pay, you’ll need to disable it. You can do this after getting your number transfer details. Click “I understand. Proceed.”
- Write down your account number.
- Write down your transfer PIN.
Next, to avoid charges and allow the transfer, disable the Port-Out Blocker and disable Auto-Pay.
- Close the number transfer details pop-up.
- Under Port Out Blocker Is, click the toggle or Turn OFF to disable the blocker.
- Go back to Line Overview.
- Under My Plan, click the toggle to disable Auto-Pay.
For a successful transfer, the name, address, and zip code you provide to your new carrier must match your RedPocket account. Even small differences (like “John H. Doe” vs. “John Henry Doe”) can cause delays.
- Click on Profile > Profile Details.
- Write down your name, address, and zip code.
Start Your Transfer
Once you have your information, start service with your new carrier and provide them with the account number, transfer PIN, name, and address.
Transfers usually take a few minutes up to 24 hours.
Your RedPocket line must remain active during the transfer. After the transfer is complete, contact RedPocket customer service to cancel your line. Transferring your number does not automatically cancel your account.
Check the Status of Your Transfer
Contact your new carrier’s customer service to check your transfer status.
If a Number Transfer Fails
If the transfer fails, your number stays with RedPocket. Common causes for failure include:
- Incorrect account number
- Incorrect PIN
- Closed or suspended line
- Other issues
You can simply correct your information and try again.
