What is eSIM? How to buy an eSIM plan?

Red Pocket Mobile offers eSIM for our GSMA monthly calling plans. Select eSIM as your delivery method at checkout.

An eSIM is a digital SIM that eliminates the need for a physical SIM card. With eSIM, you can
quickly and easily transfer an existing cellular plan or get a new cellular plan, all digitally.

You
can even store multiple eSIMs on the same device and use two phone numbers at the same
time! And it’s more secure - someone can’t remove the physical SIM card if your iPhone is lost
or stolen. In just a few simple steps, you are ready to make calls, send messages, and browse
the web.

Red Pocket Mobile is happy to offer an eSIM option for our iPhone and monthly calling plans. Select a plan from our website, redpocket.com/plans and choose "eSIM" as the delivery option at checkout. You can also select a calling plan with an iPhone purchase and you will receive an eSIM along with your device delivery.

Here's some important information about purchasing an eSIM:

  • eSIM is available on the Red Pocket Mobile GSMA and GSMT networks.
  • eSIM for CDMA is not yet available.
  • At this time, eSIM is available through online purchase only.

Visit redpocket.com/plans to get started.

Will my phone work with eSIM?

Phones must be carrier unlocked to work with eSIM.

If you're using a dual SIM phone, you can use eSIM as your only cellular plan or you may use a physical SIM card for your first cellular plan and eSIM as the second. You cannot use two eSIM cellular plans in your dual SIM phone (unless you have an Apple iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max).

Note: iPhone 14 series phones are eSIM only. They cannot accept a physical SIM.

List of eSIM-compatible phones

iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, or later support eSIM.

If you purchased an iPhone 14 or iPhone 14 Pro model, your iPhone does not have a physical SIM tray, and will only activate with an eSIM.

Most newer, flagship Android phones are also eSIM compatible. Review the list of eSIM-compatible devices and models. If you do not see your device on this list, check back. As the technology becomes more common, newer devices will be updated to include eSIM compatibility.

Ordering an eSIM online

Step 1: Red Pocket Mobile offers monthly calling plans starting at just $10 per month. Visit redpocket.com/plans. We also offer annual calling plans starting at just $5 per month. Visit redpocket.com/plans/annual.

Step 2: On the checkout page, choose eSIM as your delivery method. We'll check to see if your phone is eSIM compatible. On the form that appears, enter your phone manufacturer (for example, Apple, Samsung, HTC, etc.) and then enter your phone model (for example, iPhone 12, Galaxy S12, U20, etc.).

Step 3: Complete your order and your confirmation code will be emailed to you. This code is important because it contains your pre-paid plan and other order details. Keep it secure.

Step 4: Activate your new line. Go to redpocket.com/activate and enter your confirmation code. During the activation process, transfer your phone number over from another wireless carrier or get a new phone number.

Step 5: After activation, you'll receive your eSIM download instructions. Click here to learn how to install your eSIM once you've received it.

Please Note: eSIMs expire after 90 days if they are not activated, so be sure to activate your SIM right after you receive it!
