What is GSMT?

GSMT is one of RedPocket Mobile’s wireless network options.

GSMT is one of the RedPocket Mobile’s wireless network options. RedPocket’s GSMT, plans work with GSM unlocked devices (GSM means the device can accept a SIM card, and unlocked means the device can work with any wireless carrier). RedPocket’s GSMT plans also work with devices locked to the T-Mobile network.

Devices that work with this network

GSM phones that were initially from other carriers like AT&T and Verizon Wireless but have since been unlocked will still work with this network.

GSM phones locked to other carriers, like AT&T and Verizon Wireless, will not work with this network. See our GSMA and CDMA networks, respectively, for other options.

Phones from Sprint will not work with this network, even if the device is unlocked. This is because Sprint devices do not accept SIM cards, and Sprint has been decommissioned. Read our “What is the difference between CDMA and GSM?” article to learn more about the technology behind these networks. Read our “My CDMAS account has stopped working” article to learn more about the decommission.

Only GSM phones work with this network

Note that some unlocked Verizon Wireless-compatible phones are CDMA only and some are GSM. The carrier began offering GSM phones around the year 2010. If you’re unsure if your device is a CDMA or a GSM device, check to see if your phone has a SIM card slot. SIM card slots are typically located on the top, bottom, or sides of your phone or underneath the phone’s battery. If you are still having trouble, check your phone’s user manual.
